Pelion, SC (Paul Kirby) – The Pelion Church of the Nazarene held its annual car show fundraiser several weekends ago and as in the past, the crowds were great as were the cars that were shown. Each year, this event is held as a way to raise funds for church programs.
Every year, one of the church’s members builds the trophies out of car parts which makes them unique items. They are certainly different and for most car enthusiasts who show on a regular basis, it’s nice to get something a bit different if you’ve won a number of trophies in past shows. There are also a number of prizes given away and great food that’s cooked and sold as part of the fun raising efforts.
All day, the folks who show sit as the crowds and judges walk by. At the end of the day, there’s great anticipation as the winners are announced. This year, the winners were:
Gloria Sandler - Tractor Division
Edward Grice - Car Division 40-59
Terry Hutto - Car Division 60-85
Larry Friedrich - Car Division 86 up
Leo Whritenour - Truck Division 55 Older
Nelson Fuentes - Truck Division 81 & Up
Tony Defazio - Muscle Division
Kenny Eisenhoward - Modified Muscle Division
David Howard - Street Rod Division
Blake Bryan -Foreign Car Division
Calvin - Bike Division
Leo Whritenour - Oldest Ride & Best Paint
Larry Freiderich - Most Unique
John Lansdowns - Best Wheels
Terry Hutto - Best of Show
Tom Kimble - Best of Show Runner Up
Congratulations to all of the winners. The church’s members and staff would like to thank everyone who volunteered to help again this year with the car show.
