Mobile home being consumed by fire near Pelion Saturday

Pelion, SC (Paul Kirby) A double-wide mobile home was reported to be fully involved on Macedon Drive between Pelion and Sharpe’s Hill Saturday morning. The fire, which was reported around 10:30 a.m., was still burning as of this writing.

First arriving crews gathered their equipment and made a quick attack from outside as other units from the fire service arrived on the scene. Tanker trucks had to come from as far away as Sandy Run near the Calhoun County line to bring water to the fire in an area with no nearby fire hydrants. Battalion two quickly asked for law enforcement to respond. He also requested that the power company send a crew to deal with the utilities connected to the home. An EMS unit was on the scene helping to rehab the firefighters coming off the teams.

As of 11:15 a.m. Saturday, other county trucks were moving further southeast from the center of the county to cover empty stations. The fire was marked under control at 11:16 a.m.. We will update this story throughout the day as we learn more.
