Gaston, SC (Paul Kirby) – A thirteen-year-old boy has been arrested in association with a string of burglaries that occurred in Gaston over the last several weeks. According to Major Stephen Watkins of the Gaston Police Department, the boy has been released into his parent’s custody pending trial in juvenile court.
Watkins said that the boy took his mother’s car at night without her permission and was driving it into the town’s business district. He then used a hammer to break the glass at multiple businesses that included Paparoni's Pizza, The Dollar Tree, and the Citgo at Mack and Main Streets. He would then go inside and take what he could find before fleeing in the car.
Major Watkins said the juvenile has been charged with three counts of burglary in the incidents. His name is not being released because of laws that protect juvenile’s identities.
