Two sheriff’s incidents draw concern east of Gaston
Gaston, SC (Paul Kirby) Two incidents over the holiday drew a lot of attention in the same general areas east of Gaston. One occurred on Stagecoach Road and the other on Ball Park Road near Gaston's town limits.
According to Colby Gallagher, digital communications coordinator for the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department, deputies responded to a home on Stagecoach Road Tuesday night in response to a call of an unwanted individual being at the residence. That individual allegedly left before deputies arrived. It was determined that individual has an active warrant so K-9 officers were called in. SLED also assisted in an attempt to help locate that person. Gallagher said Thursday, “We are still currently looking to locate that individual.”
In regard to the crime-scene tape that a number of people inquired about on Ball Park Road Gallagher said, “We responded to a home on Ball Park Road this morning (07/04/2015) in response to an unrelated death investigation. We are still in the very early stages of that investigation and do not have much information available right now.”
Death investigations are not a term used to indicate that an act of violence of any kind did occur. It simply can mean that a death that can’t be easily explained happened. In these cases, the area is treated like a crime scene until the results of the coroner’s autopsy come back. Then, and only then, can it be determined if the death was natural, violent, self-inflicted, a drug overdose, or something else entirely. The investigators will then proceed accordingly.
