Pine Ridge, SC (Paul Kirby) – The Midland’s Minors Dixie Youth boy’s baseball team returned from the state championship Monday night as conquering heroes. Despite an on and off rain, the spirit of the welcoming crowd and the boys couldn’t be dampened. The celebration can’t last long however; they are slated to play in the Dixie Youth World Series on August 4th in Lumberton, NC. The opening ceremonies will be held the day before.
Many of these boys were also part of the 2016 team that won the coaches pitch World Series. According to Lee Williams of the Midland’s organization, “They know how to win and execute. The coaches have spent tireless amounts of hours to get them ready for the upcoming World Series.”
The team’s players are: Jacson Barrineau, Keaton Bennett, Jacob Buol, Chance Culley, Logan Grandberry, Brice Gillette, Matthew “M.J.” Honsby Jr., Jacob Kelly, Greyson Lawson, Isaiah Oree, Andy Salvato, and Richard Yancey.
