Torrential rains cancels Forest City Owls-Lexington County Blowfish game
Fans can use tickets for free general admission to Saturday’s season finale against Macon Bacon
Lexington, SC (James Bowers) - A driving rainstorm and the forecast that it would not end for hours kept the first pitch from ever being thrown Thursday evening at Lexington County Blowfish Stadium. Blowfish owner Bill Shanahan made the decision to call the Thursday night contest after weather reports indicated that the rain would not end in a feasible time frame. As the Owls are not a division opponent, a reschedule of the game is not necessary. The Blowfish have only two games remaining in the 2018 season, and with a 17-30 record, will not make the playoffs this season.
Fans who purchased reserved section tickets to the never-played Owls game will be eligible for free general admission seating when the Blowfish play their final home game of 2018 on Saturday, August 4th (tomorrow) against the Macon Bacon (reserved seating is already sold out). They will also receive a voucher for comparable seating for the Blowfish’ 2019 season opener.
The Blowfish will take the field in Florence tonight for their last season game against the RedWolves. The season finale against the Bacon on Saturday is set for a 7:05 pm first pitch.
