Man dies after single-vehicle accident on I-20
Lexington, SC (Paul Kirby) – A NC man has died after have a single-vehicle accident on I-20 east near 62 mile-marker Saturday evening. According to Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher, the accident occurred at about 6:30 PM on Saturday, August 11th.
Fisher identified the victim of the crash as Jacklin Philippe, 29, of Fayetteville, North Carolina. He was pronounced dead at an area hospital a short time after the wreck due to multiple traumatic injuries he sustained in the wreck.
The SC Highway Patrol said that Philippe, who was traveling at a high rate of speed, lost control of the car and collided with a guardrail then a tree. He was not wearing a seat belt when the incident occurred.
The South Carolina Highway Patrol is still investigating the accident.
