LEXINGTON, S.C. – A 19-year-old Gaston man accused of stabbing a family member during a domestic dispute Wednesday has been charged with attempted murder.
Jose Coria Emeterio is also charged with possessing a weapon during a violent crime, according to arrest warrants.
“Based on information gathered at the scene and witness statements, Emeterio attacked a family member who was sleeping in a Swansea Road home,” Lexington County Sheriff Jay Koon said. “Emeterio used a knife to slash the victim multiple times.”
The victim was transported to receive medical treatment for his wounds, according to Koon. The man is expected to make a full recovery.
Koon said Emeterio is also charged with stealing a car in connection to his fleeing the scene on Swansea Road.
Emeterio is being held in the Lexington County Detention Center while he awaits a bond hearing.
