Doublewide destroyed by fire near Pelion
Pelion, SC (Paul Kirby) – A double-wide mobile home was fully involved in flames when firefighters arrived Saturday afternoon on McDermaid Court off Canal Drive near Pelion. The first unit that arrived also reported that another home was being threatened by the blaze.
The call regarding the fire was dispatched to multiple fire stations at approximately 1:45 p.m. The truck and manpower from the Pelion station arrived first and reported that the home was totally consumed. More trucks and equipment began to arrive to assist the firefighters who were dealing with the inferno and the high ambient heat. Eventually, one of the battalion chiefs arrived and took command of the scene. The teams were able to quickly bring the fire under control and stop its advance. They spent more time on the scene mopping up the hot spots of the fire, picking up, and cleaning up their equipment before leaving.
Firefighters were assisted by a Lexington County EMS unit and crew for stand-by. The fire service has not said that anyone was hurt during the fire and the cause of the fire hasn’t been released.
