Six charter schools closed due to Hurricane Florence; Lexington County's Gray Collegiate include

COLUMBIA – In accordance with the governor’s order to close all schools in 26 counties, The Charter Institute at Erskine will close six schools on September 11, 2018 until further notice. Those schools include: Coastal Leadership Academy, Gray Collegiate Academy, Mevers School of Excellence, Oceanside Collegiate Academy, Royal Live Oaks Academy, and Virtus Academy of South Carolina.

The decision to close schools is being made in an abundance of caution for the safety of our students, parents and staff as South Carolina prepares for the impacts of Hurricane Florence.

The Charter Institute at Erskine will continue to monitor the weather and road conditions closely to determine the status of school opening. The Charter Institute at Erskine is working closely with several agencies to stay apprised of conditions.

Any future announcements will be made using the Charter Institute at Erskine’s website, social media and local media outlets. For the latest updates regarding Hurricane Florence, visit www.scemd.org.
