One traffic death in Lexington County now being added to Florence death toll

Leesville, SC (Paul Kirby) Officials are now saying that a traffic accident that happened around 6:00 a.m. Sunday morning killing one young lady, is Lexington County’s only storm related death so far. It will be added to the overall death toll of what by Sunday morning was Tropical Storm Florence. Monday, that toll from the entire storm in our state, was listed as six.

The accident Sunday happened on Pond Branch Road when Rhonda Rebecca Hartley, 30, of Leesville was driving toward Columbia, apparently hit some water ponding or puddling on the shoulder of the road, lost control, and then went into the trees. She wasn’t wearing her seatbelt at the time of the collision. She was pronounced dead at the scene due to injuries she received in the wreck.
