WEST COLUMBIA, SC -- Cayce Elementary Principal Andrew Drozdak were ready for a strong start to the Lexington Two school’s bottled water drive, to benefit victims of Hurricane Florence.
But even Drozdak and his administrators were a bit surprised -- and excited -- at just how strong that start was.
By mid-afternoon Monday, the first day of the campaign, Cayce Elementary had collected 841 bottles of water, with more donations on the way.
The school is inviting area residents, businesses and community organizations to make donations of bottled water, which will be given to South Carolina schools and families in areas affected by the recent Hurricane Florence, and subsequent flooding in communities along rising rivers.
Many at the Cayce school are paying it forward, after several Lexington County communities received help after the devastating floods in this area in 2015.
Drop off bottled water at the school, 515 Bulldog Blvd., anytime after 8 a.m. weekdays through October 5.
