Springdale armed robbery suspect arrested

Springdale, SC (Paul Kirby) - Springdale Police Chief Kevin Cornett announced Tuesday the arrest of a man who robbed the Quick Trip 3 Mobile Gas Station located at 3016 Platt Springs Rd. on two different occasions. In both instances, the man presented a gun and robbed the store. This happened on May 6th and again on July 18th of this year.

An anonymous tip gave investigators a strong lead last month and then good investigative work led to a positive identification of the suspect. Warrants were issued a few weeks ago. With assistance of other law enforcement agencies, the suspect was arrested Tuesday.

Najeriq A. Mentor, 27, was booked into the Lexington County Detention Center this after his arrest. He has been charged with two counts of armed robbery, two counts of possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime and one count of kidnapping.

Springdale’s Police Chief Kevin Cornett said in a prepared statement, “The original posts about the armed robberies received a lot of attention from residents, patrons of the business, concerned citizens, and all of our local news stations ran stories. We want to thank all of you for helping us to spread the word that ultimately helped us to identify this violent individual.”
