Swimming advisory issued for parts of Congaree River

September 27, 2018

Lexington County, SC - One Midlands Rivers Coalition water quality sample collected on Wednesday, September 26th came back above the standard for swimming at the following site: Blossom Street Bridge (Lexington Side). A swimming advisory is being issued for the section of the Congaree River from the confluence to the Rosewood Landing. Follow-up sampling is being conducted today (8/27) and those results will be reported tomorrow afternoon. 
 

Contact recreation (swimming, wading, tubing, paddling) is not recommended in the advisory area. At risk groups (including children, people with compromised immune systems, and people with open wounds) should use extreme caution.
