Lifelong learning center hosts Hispanic Heritage celebration
Batesburg-Leesville, SC - As part of National Hispanic Heritage Month, the ESL (English as a Second Language) class at the Batesburg-Leesville Lifelong Learning Center hosted the second annual Hispanic Heritage Celebration. The event took place on October 23rd and was attended by LLC students, staff members, Lexington County First Steps employees and Lexington School District Three administrators.
ESL students created displays to show off artwork, music, books, pottery, jewelry and other mementos from their native cultures and countries. In addition, students brought in authentic food dishes that were shared and sampled by all of the guests in attendance.
Randall Price, the Director of the Lifelong Learning Center, said the goal of the event is to help create and foster an even greater appreciation for the diversity and unique backgrounds of the students at the LLC, as well as to build global perspective and reinforce the standards that are outlined in the Profile of the SC Graduate. He hopes the event will continue to grow in the years to come.
