“Bountiful Harvest” event which will be hosted by the Lexington Police Department next Tuesday

Lexington, SC (November 13, 2018) – Chief Terrence Green would like to invite the Town of Lexington community to the upcoming “Bountiful Harvest” event which will be hosted by the Lexington Police Department and is in collaboration with Serve & Connect along with local outreach partners which include Harvest Hope, Mission Lexington, Midlands Fatherhood Coalition, LaVie Pregnancy Care Center and The Courage Center.

A Bountiful Harvest will take place at the Town of Lexington Municipal Complex which is located at 111 Maiden Lane in Lexington, South Carolina on Tuesday, November 20, 2018. This event will begin at 11:00 a.m. and continue until 8:00 p.m.

The purpose of the Bountiful Harvest event is several-fold with a catered meal being provided throughout the day to encourage neighbors from across the community to sit together in fellowship.

For those who are in need, Serve & Connect will be providing Greg’s Groceries holiday food boxes which will contain one canned ham, one can of cranberry sauce, one stuffing mix, two boxes of macaroni and cheese, two canned yams, two green beans, two cans of corn, two cans of carrots and one box of mashed potatoes. Community partners will also be on hand to provide information and resources.

For those who can give, donations of canned foods, blankets, warm clothing items and new toys can be dropped off through the day.

The Lexington Police Department will begin their annual Toys for Tots “Fill the MRAP” toy collection campaign at this event and are asking for new unwrapped toys to be donated. The Emergency Services Team MRAP vehicle will be parked in front of the Town of Lexington Municipal Complex during this event.

All other donations made during this event will be given to Harvest Hope Food Bank.

A card writing station will be set up for those who would like to send a holiday note to someone in need and cards will be placed in the boxes of Greg’s Groceries.

The goal for the Bountiful Harvest event is to distribute 250 boxes of Greg’s Groceries while also taking donations to support those in the Town of Lexington community who may be in need as the holidays approach.

More information, including volunteer and sponsorship opportunities for this event, can be found on the Serve & Connect Bountiful Harvest webpage and on the Bountiful Harvest Facebook event page.

This event has been made possible through the generous support of JC Wilkie Construction, Lexington
