Gaston, SC (Paul Kirby) – A Gaston man who went missing Monday was located and found to be safe after family members, police officers, and sheriff’s deputies searched for him Monday morning. The community also took to social media to help locate him and they contacted The Lexington Ledger during Good Morning Lexington County so that details regarding the missing man could be broadcast.
According to Captain Adam Myrick, spokesman for the Lexington County Sheriff’s Office, their deputies were assisting officers from the Gaston Police Department in trying to locate a man that was reported to have some developmental issues that might cause him to be in danger. Law enforcement officers said that William Kurtis Dowd was the man that was reported to be missing by his worried family.
Dowd was last seen at his home on Sunny Drive in the Gaston area about 9:30 p.m. Sunday night. He was reported to be wearing a grey hoody, blue jeans, and camo boots. They believed that he had left home on foot and was likely not in a car with someone. It was out of character for Dowd to just leave his home in the manner that he did. After searching for him most of the morning, Dowd was located and returned to his home and family safely later Monday.
