UPDATE: Sheriff's department leading investigation into shooting in Swansea

Swansea, SC (Paul Kirby) – The Lexington County Sheriff's Department is been given the lead in the investigation into a shooting that occurred at the BP station in Swansea. This is according to Swansea Police Chief Cliff Hayes.

Law enforcement officers, first responders from the fire service, and Lexington EMS personnel responded to a reported gunshot in the 100 block of North Church Street (Hwy. 321 south) in the town of Swansea just after 8:00 p.m. The shooting apparently occurred at the BP station across from Hardees where St. Matthews Rd. (SC Hwy 6) turns east toward the high school.

The first responders were dispatched at about 8:15 p.m. Friday. Chief Hayes didn't provide any details of the shooting other than to say that the sheriff's department was dealing with the investigation.
