Injuries not life-threatening after child struck by vehicle on private property near Boiling Springs

November 28, 2018

Boiling Springs, SC (Paul Kirby) – A child that was struck by a vehicle has injuries that are now being described as non-life-threatening after the accident on private property Tuesday afternoon. The accident happened in the 100 block of McCartha Road between Platt Springs and Nazareth Roads. Personnel from Lexington County EMS, the fire service, and the sheriff’s department were dispatched there just after 3:00 p.m. after a call was made to 911.

Medical personnel first thought that the child’s injuries may be more severe and eventually requested a medical helicopter respond. The helicopter landed in the parking area of Red Bank Baptist Church on South Lake Drive where the ground ambulance had transferred the child from the scene. The child was then flown to Palmetto Richland for treatment.

Captain Adam Myrick, spokesman for the sheriff’s office, said that department would be handling the investigation into the accident because it happened on private property. He said that he had been in touch with personnel at the hospital that indicated that the child’s injuries were not as serious as they first appeared. No details regarding the accident were released and the investigation is ongoing.
