Annual Vets’ Charity Christmas Ride, December 9, 2018
Columbia, SC - If you accumulated more than you needed during the recent wake of hurricanes or you find yourself shopping now for the holiday season, why not consider sharing by making a difference in the life of a hospitalized Veteran?
The Annual Vets’ Charity Ride at the Wm. Jennings Bryan Dorn VA Medical Center is scheduled for Sunday, Dec. 9 in Columbia, S.C.
Again, we are looking for donations of new items in the form of items such as socks, blankets, or some other personal hygiene item to a Veteran to let them know they have not been forgotten and thank them for their selfless service during the Christmas holidays.
Our streets are blocked for the cavalcade of thousands of escorted cyclists bringing holiday cheer and greetings to Veterans.
The Vets’ Christmas Charity Ride was founded in December 2000 by retired Army Sergeant Major Jim Wertman, the general manager of Carolina Honda; Gene Royer, business owner of All American Heating and Air, and member of South Carolina Gold Wind Riders Association; and Earl Small, Jr, owner of Carolina Honda.
Each year, the ride has grown…from the initial 500 in 2000 to more than 4,500 in 2017.
So go ahead and spread the word now among your riding friends and groups around the country…the bigger the ride, the bigger the smile on the faces of the Veterans who are alone and in the facility during the holiday season.
But if you want to chat about the ride now, please feel free to contact Tammy Finney, 803.776.4000, ext. 7260.
