7-Eleven, one of the first “true” convenience store brands returning to Lexington County

December 3, 2018

Lexington, SC (Paul Kirby) – 7-Eleven, a name synonymous with convenience stores, is returning to the Lexington County market according to the company. In the days before the 24-hour a day stores, 7-Eleven was aptly named because it was originally open from 7 a.m. until 11:00 p.m. Of course, since those days, they have also operated many 24-hour locations. The new store in Lexington will in fact be open 24-hours a day, and seven days a week.

7-Eleven was the store that made Icees and their iconic Polar Bear a world-famous brand in the late 1960s. That brand later changed to Slurpee, a frozen drink that has been enjoyed by children and adults across America for decades. Of course this new store will features these wonderful sweet treats along with everything else you'd expect in a modern convenience store.

According to 7-Eleven, Inc., they are re-entering the Lexington County, SC market with its first store since 2014. It is set to open on Thursday, Dec. 6 at 2374 Augusta Hwy. This is west of Lexington near the high school at the intersection of Augusta Highway and Charter Oak Road.

The 7-Eleven store will be operated by Applegreen USA. Following this store’s opening, there will be three additional stores in the Lexington area that should be constructed in 2019. They also plan additional stores throughout the Columbia market.

7-Eleven is hosting a grand opening event Thursday, Dec. 6 between 2-7 p.m. An official ribbon cutting is planned for approximately 3:30 p.m. The store invites Lexington area residents to sip, snack and join the fun with special promotions, giveaways and lots of food and drink samples. Everyone is welcome to attend, see the new store, and try out some of the free samples.
