Springdale Police Chief Cornett recognizes several officers at the annual Town of Springdale Employee & Volunteer Christmas Party

December 8, 2018

Springdale, SC (Paul Kirby) – Springdale Police Chief Kevin Cornett recognized a number of that department’s employees at their 2018 Town of Springdale Employee & Volunteer Christmas Party which was held at the Springdale House and Gardens on Thursday evening. This event is intended as a way to recognize those employees and volunteers who go above and beyond in the performance of their duties with the department.

Chief Cornett began the evening recognizing officers by presenting Sergeant A. Richbourg with a commendation. Throughout this year Sergeant Richbourg has responded to numerous calls for service involving medical emergencies. On multiple occasions he responded and began rendering medical aid in the form of CPR. Sergeant Richbourg was also awarded an educational pin for recently completing his master's degree in criminal justice.

Next, Chief Cornett recognized Sergeant C. Manuel with a commendation for his actions when he responded to an overdose call. Sergeant Manual found the individual to be unresponsive. He administered two doses of Narcan and then began administering CPR.

Chief Cornett presented Officer S. Beaty with a School Resource Officer service pin. She is a certified SRO and has been assigned to Springdale Elementary School where she will work with students to build relationships between the youngsters and the department. She will also act as the first line of defense in the event that someone tries to perpetrate a crime at the school or even with students who may be victims of criminal activity outside of school.

Chief Cornett also presented PFC F. Gantt with a two-year service pin, a K9 service pin and an FTO service pin. PFC Gantt is certified as a K9 handler and now serves as a field training officer to train new officers that join the SPD.

Chief Cornett then presented PFC F. Gantt with the Officer of the Year award for 2018. PFC Gantt has served the Springdale community with a high level of professionalism and has worked diligently to protect the citizens of Springdale.
