Logging truck overturns near The Ridge Thursday night

December 28, 2018

The Ridge/Leesville, SC (Paul Kirby) – A logging truck flipped on its side on Tom Addy Road near Devil’s Backbone Road Thursday night. The call was first reported around 8:15 p.m. This is a rural area that lies between Augusta Hwy. and US Hwy. 378 north of Gilbert and Leesville. First reports indicated that the driver might be trapped in the truck, but that proved not to be the case when the first responders arrived on the scene.

Equipment responded from several Lexington County fire stations. The battalion chief out of Lexington also requested the assistance of a truck carrying extrication equipment from Batesburg/Leesville. After assessing the situation, the first arriving fire service crews began quickly releasing other responding units. The scene was eventually left with a Lexington County Sheriff’s deputy who stood by until the arrival of officers from the SCDPS.
