South Congaree PD takes teen into custody after being summoned to home by parents

South Congaree, SC (Paul Kirby) – South Congaree police officers have arrested a 17 year-old male early Friday after his parents called the police when the teen began to act erratically in a home that he shared with them. Apparently, he became disgruntled and started throwing food and other items in the house and disregarded his parents when they tried to verbally intervene. At some point, the teen ran on foot from the home.

According to South Congaree Police Chief Josh Shumpert, Officer Stone of his department was involved, and he and others began looking for the teen described as a black male who was wearing a hoodie and black pants. After he was located, his parents allowed police officers to look in the boy’s room in their home where officers found drug paraphernalia. Chief Shumpert said that he has been placed under arrest and is being charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, failing to obey the commands of an officer, and one other misdemeanor.
