Cayce Department of Public Safety investigating shooting in Riverland Park
Cayce, SC (Paul Kirby) – The Cayce Department of Public Safety is in the early stages of an investigation into a shooting that left one person shot early Saturday evening. Officer, firefighters, and EMS personnel responded to the 400 block of Brookcliff Drive around 6:25 p.m. in reference to the shooting that left one person with several bullet wounds to the lower extremities. That person was transported to a local medical center with what is being described as non-life-threatening injuries.
According to Chief Byron Snellgrove of the Cayce DPS, officers are still gathering evidence and interviewing anyone that might have been a witness to the incident. Chief Snellgrove said it was too early in the investigation to say what exactly went on. He has promised updates as they conclude their investigation.
Brookcliff Drive is in the Riverland Park neighborhood off New State Road. It is an old established neighborhood that sits along the banks of the Congaree River. It is normally a very quiet area that is home to young families and retirees. It also has a small community park and access to the Cayce portion of the Congaree River Walk.
