Irmo Police Department issues warrant for man who led officers on pursuit
Irmo, SC (Paul Kirby) – The Irmo Police Department has issued an arrest warrant for Rasaun Maliek Hastie, 22, after he led officers on a chase Friday morning that reached speeds over 110 mph at times. The chase was terminated when Hastie exited I-126 onto Huger Street in Columbia. The Irmo officers and supervisor determined that it would have been unsafe to continue the pursuit in the city.
According to Captain Courtney Dennis, the officer originally pulled Hastie over for an equipment violation. The suspect stopped and interacted with the officer before he then sped away initiating the pursuit. During his interaction with the officer, Hastie’s face was clearly caught on the officer’s body camera from several angles. Based on the evidence and photographs, police have issued a warrant for Hastie on the charge of Failure to Stop for a Blue Light.
