Woman caught on camera at Chapin business breaking into vehicles
Chapin, SC (Paul Kirby) - Last week, several of the cars in the parking lot of Chapin Veterinary Care Center were either stolen from or vandalism. Several unlocked cars were ransacked by someone looking for valuables, and a locked truck had its windows smashed in. This happened around 9:00 a.m., and other nearby businesses had vehicles in their parking lots tampered with or burglarized as well.
According to the deputies, there is a network of criminals in the Chapin area who wear red wigs and target cars parked at businesses looking for cash and financial cards. Please be careful and don’t leave any valuables in your cars. Also, never leave your vehicle unlocked or running while you are out of it, even for just a few minutes.
The suspect caught on surveillance cameras was a woman with red or pink hair. Remember this may be a wig or hair coloring. She was driving a 2012 Hyundai Tuscon SUV. If you have any idea who this person was, please contact the Lexington Sheriff’s Department at (803) 785-8230. You can also call Crimestoppers at 1-888-CRIME SC. They also have a website for making tips. It can be found at www.midlandscrimestoppers.com.
