Taking the plunge for a purpose

March 5, 2019

Lexington, SC - Lake Murray Elementary School administrators and staff took the plunge to show their support for Special Olympics and their athletes who will compete this spring.

To raise funds for special education students to attend the Spring Games in April, LMES participated in the annual Lake Murray Polar Plunge on Saturday, Feb. 9 at SCE&G Lake Murray Public Park. Principal Jennifer Stanley, Assistant Principal Leisa Clamp, Assistant Principal Jason Black, Special Education Teachers Aletha Corley and Sarah Livingston, and Instructional Assistant Jennifer Steele took a dip in the chilly waters.

Participants raised enough money to support their athletes at the Spring Games. The school will be able to rent buses to transport athletes and student Friendly Helpers, who assist special education teachers, to White Knoll High for the big event.
