Batesburg-Leesville councilman arrested again for failure to pay child support
Batesburg-Leesville, SC (Paul Kirby) – Batesburg-Leesville lightning rod town council member Steve Cain has once again been arrested for failure to pay his child support. The Lexington Ledger received a tip from a citizen regarding this, but it has since been confirmed through law enforcement.
Cain was arrested in Washington, DC where he is originally from. He had been visiting there since last week. He was jailed on outstanding warrants from Lexington County. This is not the first time he has been arrested on these types of charges. He was arrested and spent time in the Lexington County Detention Center in the last four years for the same issue.
Cain is no stranger to clashes with police. In a town council meeting approximately 4 years ago, he was forcibly removed by the police at one point during a meeting. Cain went into hiding for some time claiming he was scared the town police would kill him.
According to Lexington County Sheriff's Department Spokesman Captain Adam Myrick, Cain will remain in jail in Washington, DC until he is extradited back to Lexington County.
