Former South Congaree resident, pastor charged with Criminal Sexual Conduct with a Minor

South Congaree, SC (Paul Kirby) - The South Congaree Police Department released a statement Tuesday evening announcing the arrest of a former resident of the town and pastor at an area church on charges related to his inappropriate relationship with a child. The statement said that after a thorough investigation, William "Bill" Oswald of Prosperity, S.C. was arrested and charged with multiple counts of Criminal Sexual Conduct with a Minor. These charges stem from when Oswald lived in South Congaree from 1996 until 2001.

Oswald served as the pastor at Dunn's Chapel on Chapel Road in the town starting in the late 1990s. He also acted for a time as the volunteer chaplain at the South Congaree Fire Station. Oswald has been booked into the Lexington County Detention Center. He will face a bond hearing in the coming days.
