Generations Assisted Living begins serving Clemson’s Best premium SC Certified Grown ice cream to re
Chapin, SC (Paul Kirby) – The residents of Generations Assisted Living of Chapin are now enjoying a premium dessert with some of their meals. Tim Slice, owner of the facility, said that his residents deserve the best and Clemson’s Best Ice Cream is just that. “I’m a Gamecock man through and through,” Slice said recently. “I wish they’d take the tiger paw off the container, but that doesn’t change the fact that this is some of the best ice cream I’ve ever tasted!”
Clemson Best is an SC Certified Grown product. According to the SC Department of Agriculture, The Certified South Carolina program is an exciting cooperative effort with farmers, processors, wholesalers, retailers and the South Carolina Department of Agriculture (SCDA). They help brand and promote South Carolina agriculture products. In the case of Clemson’s Best, the milk, fruit, and other all natural ingredients are sourced right here in the State of SC.
Slice said that Generations provides a real senior experience. They like to provide their residents an atmosphere of home. When the residents get to the point they need some help that can’t be provided by their family anymore, Generations provides an answer for the family's question of, “What should we do?” Slice said, “We wanted them to have the best, and that includes our menu. Most of our residents love dessert and having a premium treat like Clemson’s Best Ice Cream lets them know how much we care and want them to enjoy the best. We don’t cut corners with anything, and that certainly includes the menu in our dining room.”
Clemson’s Best Ice Cream is rich with 16% butter fat. It’s made from non-homogenized milk, much like ice cream was made when the residents themselves were watching grandpa churn it at his house as they were children. This means that the butter fat is left on the milk and not separated as it would be with most ice creams today. The fact that this is made the old fashioned way is appropriate in that most of Generations residents can remember when all ice cream was made with care. Clemson's slogan, "Brand-new Ice Cream, Old Fashioned Taste," really says it all according to Slice,
Slice said that when the Chapin Generations’ dining room served Clemson’s Best Ice Cream for the first time Thursday, they absolutely loved it. “Our residents are often just like our children, they’ll start their meal by eating the dessert first. Each one got an individual cup of the ice cream, and almost immediately gobbled it down. We gave them each vanilla, but Clemson’s Best has told us the Strawberry Shortcake, Peach n’ Cream, and Butter Pecan Carmel Swirl will soon be available in the individual cups. We know the residents can’t wait to pick their favorite flavors!” Slice said that the premium ice cream will eventually be served in their Batesburg facility as well.
Clemson’s Best will be available for purchase by everyone in the Chapin area soon. Doza Rizen Café, an eatery known for its use of fresh, seasonal ingredients, and their efforts to house-make all their foods from scratch, will soon be selling all four flavors of Clemson’s Best in pints. Each time you buy some to enjoy, a portion of the sale goes back to the school's agricultural programs. They also have a gourmet blue cheese that comes in wheels, wedges, crumble, and a prepared dressing. It's made right on the campus of Clemson University. Doza Rizen Café is located on Virginia Street in the town of Chapin, SC.
