Chapin, SC (Paul Kirby) – Last week, the Town of Chapin began utilizing NextDoor app to help make their citizens and neighborhoods stronger and safer through better communications. The Chapin Police Department plans to share important news and emergency notifications that are relevant to the resident’s neighborhood. Chief Zeigler said in his announcement, “Please be assured that your NextDoor website remains private. Our staff will not be able to see any of the content on your neighborhood website except for the direct replies to our posts.”
According to the website www.nextdoor.com, “Nextdoor is the world’s largest social network for the neighborhood. Nextdoor enables truly local conversations that empower neighbors to build stronger and safer communities.” In addition to the police communicating with the citizens, the app can be used for many other things according to the website. It can:
Find a trustworthy babysitter or recommended house painter
Spread the word about a lost dog
Organize a neighborhood watch group or quickly get the word out about a break-in
Share information during a natural disaster
Receive information from local public agencies
Find a new home for an outgrown bicycle
The app is available for both the Android and IOS smart phone operating systems. To set up your account, access the Chapin PD invitation and site through this link: Chapin PD NextDoor
Chief Zeigler of Chapin concluded by saying, “We look forward to communicating with you on Nextdoorto make Chapin an even better place to live.”
