Arrest made in last week’s Platt Springs Road hit & run
Red Bank, SC (Paul Kirby) - A 23-year-old woman has been arrested after troopers say she hit a woman with her car and then fled the scene last week. Amelia Garrett Shirley was taken into custody after troopers received tips that led to her arrest. She was booked into the Lexington County Detention Center on charges of Leaving the Scene of an Accident.
On Monday, April 15, the troopers say Shirley struck a woman who was walking in the 6500 block of Platt Springs Road near McCartha Road around 5:00 a.m. She then fled the scene. The woman who was struck was transported to the hospital in serious condition, but survived. The SCHP’s M.A.I.T. Team investigated the hit and run and posted a wanted bulletin based on parts of Shirley’s car they found on the scene. Based on that, they received tips that led to Shirley’s arrest.
