Irmo Police Department conducting Traffic Safety Checkpoints this weekend
Irmo, SC (Paul Kirby) There will be some Public Safety Checkpoints in the Irmo area Saturday as part of the Irmo Police Department’s efforts to ensure that roads in the town are safe. They also want to ensure that motorists are following all applicable laws regarding driving or riding any type vehicle. Irmo police officers will be doing this with the assistance of other local law enforcement agencies.
The increased patrols and checkpoint will be focused along the area’s busy roads including Broad River Road and Woodrow Street. Officers will be conducting the checkpoints and increased patrols in response to collision incidents and traffic complaints from citizens and businesses. They will also be working in areas where previous enforcement has indicated the high probability that motorist may be speeding or operating in an unsafe manner. Officers will be checking driver’s licenses, vehicle registration, and insurance.
The Irmo Police Department is committed to providing a safer town through education and enforcement. The checkpoint should not overly inconvenience citizens who are obeying traffic laws and being safe.
