Lexington, SC - The archery team from Lexington High School hit the mark in its very first season of competition.
Students will soon pack their bags and bows for a national competition. At the 2019 S.C. National Archery in the Schools Program IBO 3D State Championship, LHS qualified for the Eastern Nationals event, happening this month in Louisville. The team of 14 archers scored a combined 1,542 points. In the 3D event, student archers shoot at 3D targets representing sheep, turkey, coyote, antelope, deer and bear.
In individual standings, archer Maya Blashka won third in the field of 98 high school girls with a score of 288. An NASP Academic Archer, she finished sixth at the 2019 S.C. NASP State Championship Bullseye event and third at the S.C. NASP Columbia Bullseye Middle and High Regional contest earlier this year.
LHS also celebrates archer Ben Smoak, who won $1,000 as part of the NASP’s senior scholarship program.
