Chapin We Care Center meets their Midlands Gives 2019 goal, wins awards too
Chapin, SC (Paul Kirby) – The little food pantry that can has done it again. Chapin We Care Center met their 2019 goal of $10,000 during the one-day Midlands Gives 2019 campaign. They also finished 6th on the Leader Board for small Human Services organizations. They even brought home a $1,000 bonus for their Champion Pages. This bonus plus the community’s donations of $9,468 put them over the top!
Chapin We Care is a winner of the SC Secretary of State’s Angel Award. They won this because their client benefit ratio is consistently above 90%. This allows them to minimize overhead and maximize outreach. Chapin We Care Center provides food and critical assistance to those in need. More than just a food pantry, Chapin We Care provides utility assistance, kerosene, propane, gasoline and more to people struggling with their everyday needs. They host the Good Samaritan Free Clinic and provide classes for job training, nutrition and yoga to better client health.
This year, they were raising funds to explore having their own mobile or satellite food pantry. This would allow them to take the resources closer to those in need rather than have their clients struggle to come to them. Chapin We Care currently serves clients in Chapin, White Rock, Little Mountain, Peak, Pomaria and Prosperity. They are looking to expand their services to help a growing number of families in Newberry County. A satellite or mobile pantry would certainly help these clients outside the Chapin area. They also are always looking for ways to increase the assistance offered to current clients, including new assistance programs. Everything they do is fueled by the intention to help their clients transition from crisis to stability.
Chapin We Care is currently located at 1800 Chapin Rd, Chapin, SC. For more information, please check out their website at www.chapinwecare.org.
