Dominion Energy will team up with divers from the Wateree Dive Center for “Clean the Lake Days”
CAYCE, S.C. — an event to remove trash from Lake Murray. This project is scheduled to take place on Saturday, May 18th from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. Participants will be launching from Sandy Beach off the end of Brady Porth Road near Lexington, SC.
“We have a huge appreciation for our lake, and we want to give back to our community by helping to keep our valuable resources clean,” said Andy Ogburn with the Wateree Dive Center. “We’re excited to be able to contribute to keeping Lake Murray safe and enjoyable.”
Certified divers will meet at Sandy Beach to plunge deep into the lake and collect as much trash as possible. Once the garbage is gathered, the divers, friends and family will bag it and Dominion Energy’s Lake Management team will haul it away.
“Dominion Energy takes great pride in being a good community partner, and we’re pleased to support a group of divers who eagerly support our mission of being environmentally conscious and responsible for keeping our waterways healthy and clean,” said Jim Landreth, vice president of Fossil Hydro Operations for Dominion Energy. “We’d also like to encourage anyone enjoying the lake, or any other body of water, to be safe.”
This event is in its third year and has collected more than 1,000 pounds of trash so far. This year’s goal is to remove 1 ton of garbage from Lake Murray.
