Pedestrian dies after being struck by vehicle on private property

May 16, 2019

Chapin, SC (Paul Kirby) - Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher has identified the pedestrian who died Wednesday evening after being struck by a vehicle on private property near Chapin. Fisher said Evan E. Bowersox, 24, of Lexington was pronounced dead upon arrival at an area hospital due to his injuries. The accident occurred about 8:10 p.m.

According to Coroner Fisher, Bowersox was in a gravel lot that is a part of a private storage business. Once he was struck, the driver of the vehicle stopped and he and others at the scene began to render aid. Bowersox was quickly loaded into a Lexington County EMS unit and its crew was assisted by firefighters as they rushed the young man to the hospital. Unfortunately, he was gravely injured and unable to be revived.

An investigation by the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department is ongoing.
