Lexington, S.C. — Two Lexington High School seniors received recognition from a local service organization, with one in the running for a national award.
The Exchange Club of the Midlands selected Makaylin Blanding and Rebecca Stoyk as winners of the Accepting the Challenge of Excellence award and $250 scholarship. This award recognizes high school students who have overcome adversity and challenges to graduate.
The South Carolina District of the National Exchange Club later chose Stoyk as the recipient of an additional $2,000 scholarship. She will represent South Carolina at the National Exchange Club Convention this July in Virginia. State-level scholarship recipients are eligible to compete for a $15,000 scholarship.
With a focus on family, community and country, National Exchange Club provides individuals with opportunities to use their time and talents to benefit their local communities and the country as a whole.
