Lexington County assisting Gaston Police Department in double shooting investigation
Gaston, SC (Paul Kirby) – Officers with the Gaston Police Department have asked the Lexington County Sheriff’s detectives and crime scene technicians to assist them with an investigation into a double shooting in the Hunter Wood area of the town. The shooting call came in sometime around midday Wednesday.
According to neighbors in the area of Hunter Wood Drive, officer from several municipal agencies and deputies were actively searching for a white male who was wearing white shorts and a blue t-shirt. They have apparently found someone because the Gaston Police Department has said that there are no outstanding suspects at this time.
Major Stephen Watkins, Gaston PD’s spokesman, said earlier in the day that two suspects were apparently wounded in the incident. One was transported by Lexington EMS to the Trauma Center at Prisma Richland while another person was taken to Lexington Medical Center. There is no word on either’s condition.
Gaston police department supervisors have said that it was decided late Wednesday to turn the investigation over to the Lexington County Major Crimes Unit due to the complexity of the crime scene. They have said that Captain Adam Myrick, spokesman for the Lexington County Sheriff’s Office, will be releasing more information on this crime as it becomes available. They did stress that there were no outstanding suspects as a result of this crime.
