Detectives on the scene of possible armed robbery near Batesburg-Leesville early Saturday

Batesburg-Leesville, SC (Paul Kirby) – Detectives are in the early stages of investigating what was reported as an armed robbery at a convenience store and gas station on Augusta Highway (US 1) near Windy Road close to Batesburg-Leesville. This is just across the highway from Oswald Lumber Company. They have been there since well before daylight Saturday morning.

K-9 handlers did respond soon after the incident was reported. No details regarding whether the dogs ever got to track or had any success are available. Investigators were still on scene and the store remained closed at 8:30 a.m. According to residents of the area, the entire parking lot is marked off with crime scene tape and inaccessible.
