Edmund, SC (Paul Kirby) – A small block house was gutted by fire early Saturday morning bringing firefighters to the scene from several stations across the South Region of Lexington County. The fire in the area of 150 Norman Drive, was reported around 4:15 a.m. Norman Drive runs off Edmund Highway in the vicinity of Gator Road and the sand pits.
Firefighters from Edmund, South Congaree, and several other Lexington County stations arrived quickly. A Lexington County EMS unit had already arrived, and that crew reported that heavy fire was coming from the rear of the small block home. Firefighters quickly knocked the fire down and in short order, it was brought under control.
Well after daybreak Saturday, a fire investigator was at the scene. No cause of the fire or estimated dollar loss has been released by the county. The house, which appeared from the exterior to be less than 1000 square feet, looked as if it were a total loss.
