Batesburg-Leesville resident's vehicles hit by thieves; one truck stolen

July 31, 2019

Batesburg-Leesville, S.C. (Paul Kirby) – According to officers with the Batesburg-Leesville Police Department, some of the residents who live in the town woke Tuesday morning to discover that their vehicles were entered while they slept. The unknown suspect(s) went down several streets in the town looking for unlocked vehicles. The ones that were unlocked were rifled through and items of value were stolen.

During the spree, one vehicle was also stolen. A picture of that vehicle is attached to this article. Officers for the Batesburg-Leesville PD have entered it into a national database so that if it’s stopped or found, other police officers will know it was stolen. Now, officer want members of the community to be on the lookout for this vehicle.

Police say the vehicle they’re looking for is a white 2010 Ford F150 Supercrew. It had a SC license tag of # LLK843 when it was stolen. Unfortunately, police say this vehicle was unlocked and the keys were left inside at the time of the theft. This is a thief’s dream come true when they have no moral filter that stops them from doing something we all know is wrong.

Chief W. Wallace Oswald of the Batesburg-Leesville Police Department said Tuesday he wants to remind all of citizens that any time you leave your home and cars unlocked, it’s an invitation to thieves. He said the days where that could be done without worrying about what would happen have passed. Unfortunately, criminals take advantage of honest citizens all too often. These types of crimes happen daily in neighborhoods throughout South Carolina.

If you have any information regarding these break-ins, please call the police department directly at 803-532-4408.
