Singlewide destroyed by fire near Sharpe’s Hill & Pelion Tuesday evening

Sharpe’s Hill, SC (Paul Kirby) – A singlewide mobile home was destroyed by fire on Cherry Blossom Road between Sharpe’s Hill and Pelion Tuesday evening. A number of county fire stations responded to the fire which was dispatched around 6:00 p.m.

The senior firefighter on the first truck to arrive out of Sharpe’s Hill’s reported they had heavy smoke and flames coming from the home when they pulled in. Because of a lack of fire hydrants, a supply line was dropped down the drive and tanker trucks were used to supply the water for the fire.

Trucks out of Pelion, Swansea, Mack Edisto, and several other county fire stations supported the first in with additional manpower and water as the teams battled the blaze. Both county battalion chiefs responded, and trucks were moved up to cover empty fire stations whose equipment and manpower were committed at the fire.

Eventually, the blaze was brought under control. The intensity of the fire before the firefighters arrived made the home a total loss despite the efforts of the firefighters. Lexington County has not released the cause of the fire.
