August 9, 2019

Lexington, SC (Paul Kirby) – The Lexington County Baseball Stadium will host MLB China (16-18 Year Olds) as they take on the P-27 Academy. The team, from Nanjing, China will play three games in Lexington County on Sunday August 11th and Monday August 12th. The Monday schedule is a double-header.

The MLB Development Center where these players train is working to be recognized on the local, province, national, and international level as a baseball development program with an academic component of the highest level. Every day, they strive to produce a quality student athlete who aspires to pursue a career in baseball. To accomplish this, they focus on nurturing the needs of the student athlete, and producing a balanced and prepared individual who can continue his education and an MLB playing career upon graduation high school. There are three components to each player’s development: Academics, Baseball, and Social Cultural Development.

Former Minor League Player Ray Chang is the skipper for MLB China. He is a Chinese American who was formerly a baseball infielder. He played in the 2009, 2013, and 2017 World Baseball Classics for the Chinese national team.

This first game on Sunday begins at 5:00 pm, with Monday's doubleheader beginning at 2:30 pm. These will all be played at the LCRAC ballfields on Ballpark Road. These games are being presented by the Lexington County Recreation & Aging Commission.  All tickets are $5.00 per person per game.
