Cayce man to be charged with attempted murder after Tuesday morning fire

Cayce, SC (Paul Kirby) - The Cayce Department of Public Safety say they have located the man they believe was responsible for setting a home on fire and burning a woman Tuesday morning. The fire on Lexington Avenue was reported about 3:30 a.m. When officers arrived, they found the back part of the home on fire and a female that was severely burned.

Officers almost immediately began searching for a man in connection to the fire and the woman’s injuries. Within a short time, investigators had identified the man who was known to the police and had obtained his photograph. Throughout the morning, investigators followed up on leads in connection with the case.

Cayce Public Safety officers have since located the suspect. He is being treated for his own burns at an area hospital. Once he is discharged, he will be arrested and charged with attempted murder and arson. Other related charges may be forthcoming as the investigation continues.
