Pelion, SC - Pelion Elementary School will trade in sugary snacks for literary treats with a unique new purchase that will be unveiled Tuesday night. Parents, students, and faculty members will have an opportunity to check out the school's new book vending machine during Open House. The event begins at 5:30 p.m. and the unveiling is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. in the lobby near the cafeteria.
The machine runs on tokens. Each token is earned by the student and is an incentive for displaying positive character traits and life skills, such as collaboration and perseverance. Once they accumulate enough tokens, they can choose free books from the vending machine to take home.
PES purchased the book vending machine with funds raised by the school’s Parent Teacher Organization. One of the first of its kind in the Midlands, the machine can hold approximately 300 books.
