Lexington, SC (Paul Kirby) – The Town of Lexington Police Department is asking the public for help after a car dolly was stolen from a business recently. Investigators believe that someone may recognize the men or the pickup truck they were driving and provide information needed to locate them.
In the video, watch the men drive into the business’ lot. They spot the dolly, make a circle, stop, and then jump out and hook it behind their truck. Then they drive off with it into the darkness.
First, keep your eyes out for this car dolly. These are trailers that have pans on the axle for two tires of another vehicle. It tows behind any vehicle with a trailer hitch. Once you put the tires of the second car or truck into these pans, they strap down. Then you can tow one vehicle behind another.
These are very distinctive, so we have provided a photo of one for you to see as an example. If someone suddenly has one they bought at a “steal”, it could be stolen. Amazon shows the price of car dollies start above $2,600. If someone suddenly is selling one cheap or brags they got a great deal on one they just bought, that would certainly be suspicious too. If the deal is too good to be true, excuse yourself and call the cops.
If you think you recognize the truck, the men, or the dolly, please contact Detective Smith at 803-358-7262. You can also call CRIMESTOPPERS at 1-888-CRIME SC or go to www.midlandscrimestoppers.com and give your tip through the TIPS tab.
