Swansea cheer program prepared for the season with summer activities

Swansea, SC - This past summer was a busy one for the Swansea High Cheer Program. Thirty-five students spent their summer preparing for the upcoming season and participating in community service events. The varsity squad made an appearance at Chosen Generation Summer Camp to teach the children cheers and stunts, and they also participated in Swansea’s Independence Day parade.

The cheerleaders had a successful 3-day camp at Swansea High Freshman Academy hosted by Universal Cheer Association. This was the first time in over 5 years that the teams did not travel to Lander University for camp. The girls learned new cheers, dances, and a full rally routine. At the end of camp, eight cheerleaders earned the honor of All American and four were named Junior All American. Senior Kaley Shumpert was invited to try out for the UCA staff next summer.

The final kick-off to cheer season was the Cheer Showcase at Swansea High Freshman Academy August 15, 2019. Friends and family members gathered to watch as the cheerleaders showed off what they learned this summer. Community members are encouraged to come out to Doug Bennett Field for Varsity, Junior Varsity and B-team football games and see the cheerleaders in action this season.
