Mobile home destroyed near Pond Branch and Fairview Saturday

Gilbert, SC (Paul Kirby) – A mobile home was destroyed by fire Saturday afternoon in the Pond Branch / Fairview areas of Lexington County. The burning home, which was reported just before 1:00 p.m., was in the 100 block of Annie Hallman Road near its intersection with Cassie Road. This is south of I-20 between Fairview and Pond Branch Roads.

When the first firefighters arrived, they reported that heavy smoke and fire were coming from the home. Crews began to gather and advance their hoses attacking the fire. A water supply using tanker trucks was established so that the firefighters wouldn’t run out of water while they worked. A crew from Lexington County’s EMS stood by during the fire to provide scene safety. Law enforcement was also there to help with traffic as the water tankers moved back and forth.

It took firefighters about an hour to bring the blaze under control. It was reported out and most equipment and personnel were leaving by 2:30 p.m. The property was turned back over to the owner so they could begin the process of cleaning up.
